The Dallas area got a LOT of rain in the days leading up to this picture.
On a weekday morning as I was driving to work, I noticed rain water had risen right up against the retaining wall by lake-facing homes, submerging small trees and park benches. When I took a Campion Trail walk around 8:30am the following Saturday (Sept 12), I found at least a hundred egrets, maybe more, wading in the river or perched on the banks. Did the flood bring a sudden abundance of fish that drew these egrets to the river? Who knows?
Depending on the time of day, you’ll find two or three egrets here–five, if you’re lucky. Imagine my delight at seeing a hundred plus flashes of the purest white and as many S-shaped necks.
