Tote’s awesome

If you’re mentally removing apostrophe from headline, don’t. My lunch tote, a fabulous blend of form and function, really is awesome.

Igloo tote exterior

Polka dots add a playful pop to a color that goes with everything. Shoulder straps leave hands free.  A wide base means the tote won’t topple. And its compact exterior belies a seriously roomy interior.

Igloo tote capacity

This capacious carrier comfortably holds lunchbox, fruit, water bottle, train read, and light cardigan. All that and a bag of chips (not pictured).

Lettuce rejoice

20161230_171435

I turnip at a signature Kroger and faint at the fantasticality of the produce wall. Herringboned carrots and parsnips. Carefully curated collard greens. Rowdy radishes wrangled. Bunches of spinach, white-belted soldiers in rows.

The stocking crew didn’t miss a beet. Their painterly care leaves me artichoked with emotion. Way to embrace their work endive into it with devotion.

Thanks for being here, dear reader. Here’s to a fresh start in 2017!

Chickpeas and love

Most packaging copy is matter of fact, humdrum, or an afterthought. But the writing on the Tribe hummus package is as tasty and fun as the contents.

Red-pepper kick, anyone?

The dot in the i in “Tribe” is a chickpea. It looks like a heart, too.

The ingredient list starts with LOVE. What’s not to like?

Take a peek under the lid.

So you’re slathering it on lettuce/tomato/cucumber sandwiches or eating it straight from the bowl with a spoon. And when you’ve licked the bowl clean, there’s writing on the inside wall.

That many chickpeas in an 8 oz. bowl? I would never have guessed!

Rotate the bowl 180 degrees and …

Awww … I agree.
